What is Sportsvision?

Sportsvision describes all the aspects of vision required in sport.  It is much more complex that simply recording how well you can read a test chart, or see straight ahead.

 

The Sportsvision assessment records:

·         Visual Acuity – How well you can see straight ahead of you.

·         Eye Dominance

·         How well the eyes work together to provide 3D vision.  This is directly related to timing and accuracy,   important for striking a ball or aiming at a goal.

·         Peripheral awareness.

·         Eye speed and ability to follow a moving target.

·         Ability to cope with poor contrast, failing light, overcast conditions etc.

·         Which colour filters improve your vision?

Description

Treatment:

 

The Sportsvision treatment is individually tailored to the sportsperson’s requirements.  Consultation with the individual or coach will help identify specific areas requiring improvement.

 

Treatment Options include:

 

·         Improving vision restoring eye dominance with glasses or contact lenses.

·         Improving timing and accuracy with he aid of an eye exercise programme

·         Minimising glare and improving contrast with specially prescribed tints.

 

 

How to book an appointment?:

 

We provide group assessments at your club.  Ideally groups of ten at a time.  Allow 30 min, per person.  Further testing may be required.  This can be arranged at a time to suit the individual at a later date.

 

Qualified Sportvision Optometrists who are members of the Association of Sportvision Practitioners (ASVP).
